New Year Newsletter: A Grateful Reflection and an Exciting Future

As the calendar turns to another year, it’s time to pause and reflect on the blessings of 2024, looking forward too with anticipation to all the adventures 2025 will bring.

This past year has been a journey of resilience, gratitude, and exploration. I’ve continued my journey to good health and am immensely thankful to the galleries that represent my work and to the clients who’ve supported me by acquiring pieces. Your belief in art and its transformative power fuels my creativity and keeps my passion alive.

The year also brought inspiring opportunities to share my journey through talks at Fetcham Park, Seaford Arts Club, and the Pilgrm Hotel in Paddington. Each of these events strengthened my connection with art lovers and communities who cherish the stories art tells.

I am deeply honoured to have been able to help several incredible charities this year, including Martineau Gardens, Save the Children, Bright Cancer Care, and the Primary Shakespeare Company, all of which are amazing.

I’d also like to extend my thanks to podcasters Johnny Knoxville and the team at Smartless Media for giving me a platform to share my experiences. Also, Danke to Hilke, Sarah and Oli at ZDF for my debut on German TV.

This year brought unforgettable moments of inspiration, none more vivid than the Van Gogh: Poets and Lovers exhibition at the National Gallery. This extraordinary showcase of the emotional depth and beauty of Van Gogh’s work left an indelible mark.

My travels also took me to explore Caravaggio’s masterpieces, a journey that deepened my understanding of his genius and reaffirmed my connection to the power of art.

The coming year promises excitement and enrichment. One of the highlights will undoubtedly be Peter James's stage adaptation of Picture You Dead, which embarks on a six-month tour across the UK starting in February. I’m busy already painting artworks for the stage!

The Caravaggio odyssey continues in 2025, with plans to travel to Berlin and Madrid to further explore the life and masterpieces of this extraordinary artist. These journeys not only deepen my appreciation for Caravaggio but also enrich my understanding of the master, for an up-and-coming book I’m collaborating on with David Forrest.

As we step into 2025, I carry immense gratitude for the connections and moments shared with friends, loved ones, and the broader art community. Here’s to another year of discovery, joy, and shared experiences.

Wishing you health, happiness, and your own adventures.

Warm regards,

David
