March 2022 Newsletter

Spring is around the corner and the days are growing lighter, which I’m thankful for. I’m not at my best when the nights draw in and the days are dark and gloomy. What keeps me going during the winter months is planning trips to visit as many Caravaggio’s around the world as I can – I visited the National Gallery recently to study ‘Salome receives the Head of John the Baptist’ and had a good look at ‘Boy Bitten by a Lizard’ and ‘The Supper at Emmaus’. Next is a visit to Hampton Court Palace to study ‘Boy Peeling Fruit’. Hopefully this year I can venture further afield. Italy, Spain, Malta, Germany, Switzerland, USA, France, Ireland and Austria are amongst some of the countries I have on my list, all boasting works by Caravaggio at various museums and galleries.
