Happy Birthday L.S. Lowry
Firstly, massive thanks to Chloe and the team at CLK Art Lymm, Manchester, for inviting me to their gallery last month to do a live painting exhibition for them – painting, of course, Lowry! It was a wonderful trip to a wonderful city and we met so many people interested in the paintings and the techniques that Lowry employed and which I took care to emulate. Thank you also to Manchester Art Gallery for a fascinating behind the scenes visit to their archives as well as a very insightful talk and study of the magnificent collection of paintings by L.S. Lowry at The Lowry Salford Quays.
Who doesn’t love the works of ‘the matchstick men”, ‘The Sunday painter’ and ‘the ‘artist of the people’? My love and fascination for Lowry started many years ago and finally visiting Manchester, where Lowry was born, and where he captured the spirit of the local people, has really inspired me. He had such an interesting and individual outlook, his subjects often stark, sad and lonely figures but very real.
I have painted some ‘one off’ Lowry-esque pieces, which can be personalised with your name, message or logo. They make a unique gift for a loved one that will only increase in value through the years.

This month I will also be the guest speaker at Indigo restaurant at the Ardington Hotel on Thursday 22 November in their ‘Food for Thought’ lunchtime series. This is a chance to hear me talking about my career, while enjoying an excellent lunch in good company.
