‘Head of a Capri Girl’ after John Singer Sargent.

Size 20.5" x  24.5" oil on period artist board.

Rosina Ferrara was an artist’s model from the island of Capri, a descendant of a 16th century pirate Bararossa. Described by various 19th century artists as having the look of an Arab or Greek, tawny skinned, panther eyed and elf-like, Ferrara’s exotic beauty captivated the artists. Singer-Sargent painted Rosina 12 times over one year.
